Three main options exist;

Roof
Side-of-house
and Soffit

In determining which location is best, one should consider these factors:

shortest distance
least amount of elbow fittings
away from windows, doors, patios and AC compressors
ease-of-access for regular cleaning

Remember, hot air rises, so a roof vent should not be overlooked as an option.
